Tom is a serial FinTech entrepreneur with extensive industry expertise in the Commodity sector. He began programming computers at age 9 and after entering the Commodity Industry in 1989 launched his first International FinTech in 1999, SwapNet, it was the pioneer for Online Internet based Commodity Trading. More recently he co-founded the Trade Flow Funds in Singapore (2016) to address the massive US$1.5 Trillion dollar Trade Finance Gap faced by the Physical Commodity Industry. After 2 years of FinTech development & Business planning the Digital Trade Finance Fund & Platform went live in 2018, operating the new approach to bulk physical Commodity trade & Inventory Finance. He is the business & system architect for the solution and holds the position of CEO and CIO.
Tom has held Chair professorships and adjunct professorships at various universities around the world including an executive faculty position at Singapore Management University.
He has published 9 books with Palgrave Macmillan and Wiley Finance on Energy & Commodity trading, risk management and Investment topics. Many of these have become required reading for degree and business courses.
